What is Tesseract ZERO+?

Tesseract ZERO+ is a new service being developed for eligible Tesseract ZERO customers.

It combines your home’s solar, battery, smart energy management and high-speed internet with a professionally managed Tesseract Edge AI computing system.

Your home becomes part of both Tesseract’s Virtual Power Plant (VPP) and Virtual Data Centre (VDC).

What benefits could I receive from ZERO+?

Eligible ZERO+ customers are expected to receive:

Single-phase homes

  • $100 per month electricity credit
  • High-speed internet included

Three-phase homes

  • $200 per month electricity credit
  • High-speed internet included

Final benefits will be subject to eligibility, technical assessment and the final ZERO+ service terms.

Do I need to be a Tesseract ZERO customer?

ZERO+ is designed primarily for Tesseract ZERO customers because the Edge system needs to work together with the Tesseract energy-management and VPP platform.

If you are not currently a Tesseract ZERO customer, you can still join the ZERO+ waitlist.

If your home appears suitable, Tesseract can also discuss switching your electricity service to Tesseract ZERO as part of the ZERO+ application process.

Will Tesseract provide the Edge equipment?

Under the proposed ZERO+ model, Tesseract will provide and manage the Tesseract Edge equipment required for the service.

Customers will not be expected to purchase or operate the AI computing hardware themselves.

Final equipment arrangements will be confirmed before installation.

Will I need a bigger battery?

Some homes may require additional battery capacity to support ZERO+.

This will depend on:

  • your existing battery;
  • solar-system size;
  • household electricity use;
  • electricity connection;
  • Edge-system size; and
  • the way your property participates in the Tesseract VPP.

Tesseract will assess this for you.

Will the Edge device increase my electricity bill?

No.

The Tesseract Edge device will use electricity, but the ZERO+ service is designed so that its operation does not increase your household electricity bill.

Tesseract will manage the Edge device, battery and energy requirements through the Tesseract ZERO energy platform.

Eligible ZERO+ customers will also receive the applicable monthly electricity credit:

Single-phase homes

  • $100 per month electricity credit

Three-phase homes

  • $200 per month electricity credit
Will the Edge device use my solar and battery?

Yes. One of the key advantages of ZERO+ is that the Edge system can work together with your home’s energy system.

Depending on energy availability, Tesseract may coordinate the Edge system with:

Solar + Battery + Grid + Home Demand

through the Tesseract VPP.

The objective is to use available energy intelligently while maintaining the needs of your home.

Will ZERO+ affect the electricity available to my home?

Your household electricity requirements remain an important priority.

The Tesseract Edge system is designed as a controllable load, allowing Tesseract to manage its electricity consumption when required.

The exact operating limits will depend on your property’s electrical connection and ZERO+ configuration.

Why does ZERO+ need high-speed internet?

AI computing requires fast and reliable connectivity.

The high-speed connection allows the Tesseract Edge system to communicate securely with the wider Tesseract VDC.

Eligible ZERO+ customers are expected to receive high-speed internet included as part of the ZERO+ service, subject to fibre availability and final service terms.

Will Tesseract Edge slow down my home internet?

No. ZERO+ is designed to give your home a faster, higher-bandwidth internet service.

Tesseract Edge requires more bandwidth, higher speed and reliable connectivity to operate as part of the Tesseract Virtual Data Centre.

For eligible ZERO+ properties, Tesseract intends to provide a suitable NBN business-grade internet plan, subject to network availability

Can AI customers access my home network or personal information?

No.

Your home hosts computing infrastructure, but that does not mean Tesseract’s AI customers receive access to your personal devices, home network or household information.

The Tesseract Edge environment will be securely managed and separated from normal household systems.

How long is the Tesseract ZERO+ agreement?

The initial Tesseract ZERO+ agreement is for five years.

At the end of the first five-year term, the agreement may be extended for a second five-year period, subject to the applicable ZERO+ terms and agreement between Tesseract and the customer.

What happens if I sell my home or move?

Moving home does not necessarily prevent the ZERO+ arrangement from continuing.

If you sell the property during the ZERO+ contract period, there will be two principal options:

Option 1 — Transfer ZERO+ to the new homeowner

Subject to Tesseract’s approval and the new homeowner agreeing to the ZERO+ terms, the contract can be transferred to the new property owner.

The new homeowner can then continue participating in ZERO+ and receive the applicable customer benefits.

Option 2 — Terminate the ZERO+ contract

If the new homeowner does not wish to participate, the existing customer may terminate the ZERO+ agreement in accordance with the contract terms.

Tesseract will then arrange the appropriate treatment of Tesseract-owned equipment installed at the property.

Does joining the waitlist mean I have agreed to ZERO+?

No.

Joining the waitlist is simply an expression of interest.

There is no obligation to proceed.

If your home appears suitable, Tesseract will explain the proposed installation, benefits, equipment and contractual terms before you make a decision.

What happens after I join the ZERO+ waitlist?

The process is simple:

  1. Register your interest
  2. Tesseract checks your initial eligibility
  3. Suitable homes are invited for a technical assessment
  4. Tesseract confirms the proposed ZERO+ package
  5. You decide whether you would like to proceed
What is a Tesseract Edge device?

Tesseract Edge is a compact, professionally managed computing system installed at eligible homes and businesses.

It provides computing capacity for Tesseract’s distributed AI network.

You do not need to operate the Edge device yourself.

Tesseract installs, monitors, manages and maintains it for you.

What is the Tesseract VDC?

VDC stands for Virtual Data Centre.

Instead of putting all computing equipment inside one large data centre, Tesseract connects many Edge systems located across homes, businesses and commercial sites.

Together, these systems can operate as one distributed AI computing network.

What is the Tesseract VPP?

VPP stands for Virtual Power Plant.

The Tesseract VPP coordinates distributed energy assets such as:

  • rooftop solar;
  • home batteries;
  • electricity consumption;
  • grid import and export; and
  • flexible equipment such as Tesseract Edge.

ZERO+ combines the VPP energy network with the VDC computing network.

Is the Tesseract Edge device noisy?

Tesseract Edge requires cooling, but the system will be designed for residential environments.

The expected external noise level will be similar to, or lower than, a typical residential air-conditioner outdoor unit, subject to the final equipment configuration and installation location.

Where will the ZERO+ equipment be installed?

Potential locations could include a suitable:

  • garage;
  • utility area;
  • dedicated external enclosure;
  • equipment area; or
  • other approved location.

Outdoor installation may be particularly suitable where there is adequate space, access, ventilation and separation from living areas.

Tesseract will assess available space, cooling, ventilation, weather protection, electrical access, noise and maintenance requirements before installation.

How much space will I need?

The amount of space required will depend on the ZERO+ configuration.

Space may be required for:

  • Tesseract Edge equipment;
  • additional battery capacity;
  • electrical equipment;
  • networking equipment; and
  • cooling or ventilation.

You do not need to determine this yourself. Tesseract will assess your property.

What happens if the Tesseract Edge equipment breaks down?

Tesseract will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining Tesseract Edge equipment under the final ZERO+ service agreement.

If maintenance is required, Tesseract will arrange appropriate servicing or equipment replacement.

What happens during a power outage?

Battery backup is an important part of the Tesseract ZERO+ design.

Where required, additional battery capacity will be installed or provided as part of the ZERO+ system so that sufficient stored energy is available to support both:

  • the customer’s household electricity requirements; and
  • the Tesseract Edge system.

During a grid interruption, the ZERO+ energy-management system can coordinate the available battery capacity and manage the Edge computing load.

Your household electricity requirements remain the priority.

Can I switch the Tesseract Edge device off?

Because the Edge system forms part of the Tesseract managed network, normal operation will be controlled by Tesseract.

The final ZERO+ agreement will explain how shutdowns, emergencies, maintenance and customer-requested interruptions are managed.

Can I use the Tesseract Edge computer myself?

No.

The Edge system is intended to operate as part of the Tesseract Virtual Data Centre and will be professionally managed by Tesseract.

It is separate from your personal computer and household devices.

Is ZERO+ available to every Tesseract ZERO customer?
